How volunteering quickly turned in a job!

After serving as a marketing and sales operations executive for over 20 years, I took seven years off to stay home with my three daughters. As my oldest daughter headed off to college, I found I had more time and a desire to get back out in the workforce. After participating in a strategic volunteering workshop with Charity Connect and FlexProfessionals, I felt inspired to pursue a more involved and strategic volunteering role. During the workshop we brainstormed skills we wanted to use and skills we wanted to learn. Charity Connect concluded the skills I offered and sought, as well as my passion to address hunger, would be a good fit for Nourish Now and advocated for a customized volunteer position. For two months this summer, I volunteered my time with Nourish Now. I recently accepted the position of Director of Development at Nourish Now. I am thrilled to be back in the working world and in a capacity where I feel I can directly make an impact on reducing hunger and food waste.
